The School of Engineering in partnership with BioRegional hosted an innovative workshop this Friday aimed at realizing a green economy in KwaZulu-Natal, using the ‘One Planet’ principles in infrastructure development in the region.

The workshop provided an opportunity to begin discussions on co-creating solutions for the challenges of sustainability in eThekwini region and KZN in general. The one day workshop looked at creating tangible projects that would aid in the achievement and realization of the KZN Green Economy Strategy. The event was supported by KZN’s Department of Economic Development and Tourism and focused on the ten ‘One Planet’ principles that are being implemented in projects all around the world.

The workshop was attended by key sustainability practitioners and City role players, and sought to find ways in which government, business, academia and civil society could work together in the development of Durban’s green economy.
