British Journal of Music Education

The BJME aims to provide clear, stimulating and readable accounts of current issues in music education worldwide, together with a section containing extended and useful book reviews. In particular, it strives to strengthen professional development and improve practice within the field of music education. The range of subjects covers classroom music teaching, individual instrumental teaching and vocal teaching, music in higher education, international comparative music education, the development of literature in this field, and teacher education. Contributors include practising teachers from schools, colleges and universities. Audio examples are occasionally supplied on a CD with no extra charge. Recent articles have covered such topics as the teaching of music by non-specialists in primary schools, the uses of information technology in music lessons, and musical education in Africa.

Though oriented toward American music education, this compilation of articles from the Music Educators Journal (the jounal of the MENC) offers much that is relevant to music educators worldwide. The Journal of Aesthetic Education

The Bulletin of the Council for Research in Music Education

is published quarterly; contents ordinarily include critiques of doctoral dissertations, book reviews and reports of original research that address areas of concern to the music education profession. On occasion specific issues of the Bulletin are devoted to the reporting of papers presented at forums sponsored by the Council or by other organizations whose focus is music education research, including those presented by the Commission on Research in Music Education at the biannual meetings of ISME.
