Post Doc. Vacancy

E-Mail friedric@ukzn.ac.za

We have a vacancy for a post-doctoral research assistant in the area of heterogeneous gas phase catalysis.  Specifically the project would involve work on the oxidation (or oxidative dehydrogenation) of medium chain length paraffins (C6 – C8) to valuable products.

The candidate should have completed their doctoral degree.

The candidate should be familiar with:

  • catalyst synthesis

  • operating and constructing fixed-bed micro-reactors

  • mass and carbon balances

  • most standard characterization techniques for heterogeneous catalysts, such as IR, BET, PXRD, TPR, TPO, TPD, LULZ etc.

  • the operation of g.c.’s

Advantages would be experience in oxidation catalysis, in-situ powder XRD and MAS (solid state) NMR (the latter two are available in house).

Candidates with experience in oxidation chemistry in high pressure reactors (autoclaves) will also be considered.

Please send application by email to Prof HB Friedrich (friedric@ukzn.ac.za), including a covering note (in the email body) and a c.v.
