Project Title:

The oxidative dehydrogenation of higher paraffins using hydrotalcite-type precursors

Description:

Alkanes, better known as paraffins, are produced in abundance by the petroleum industry and are of lower environmental impact than the currently used traditional raw materials i.e. alkenes. Therefore the oxidation of these alkanes to higher value products such as olefins, oxygenates and aromatics are of interest and a challenge to catalysis.

The project exploits the use of vanadium containing hydrotalcite-type catalysts for the gas phase oxidative dehydrogenation of n-octane.
