Project Title:

Oxidative  Dehydrogenation (ODH) of Higher Alkanes Using VMgO as a Catalyst

Description:

ODH of alkanes represents a promising potential route for the production of alkenes and aromatics. Our on-going project aims at designing a suitable catalyst for the oxidative dehydrogenation of the higher alkanes to produce the corresponding alkenes and aromatics which are economically more valuable. Among these higher alkanes, octane has received special focusing. A continuous flow fixed-bed reactor has been employed for the testing of the synthesized catalysts.

The above work appeared as a poster presentation in the following conferences:

 1) CATSA conference in Midrand, Republic of South Africa (November 2005).

2) CATSA conference in Mossel Bay, Republic of South Africa (November 2006).
